The UMD TP53 mutation database

(January 2007 Release)
The 2007_R1 release of the UMD_TP53 Mutation database
(2248 references, 25 473 mutations) is now available.

Last update March 2009

This web site allows only online analysis of the entire UMD TP53 database.
If you want to have more information on p53 or download the last issue of the TP53 database, go the p53 web site (http://p53.free.fr/).

CHECK NEW MUTATIONS (click the button on the left panel)

Check wether a mutation is already included in the database.
In recent years, we have observed increasing numbers of errors concerning p53 mutation data in all journals, regardless of their reputation. These errors are sometimes isolated in the article, but, in some cases, they concern several or even all mutations described. Most of these errors are related to the identity of wild-type or mutant codons, which could be easily corrected by using a simple genetic code.
If you have new p53 mutations, this function is highly recommended before publication, as it will allow to check your data. It will display automatically the wt and mutant codon based on the genetic code and the sequence of the wild type p53. For each mutant, it will also displays the frequency of the mutation, its transactivation activity, its distribution in every types of cancer, and references.

We have also developed an Excel spreadsheet to check new missense p53 mutations. It uses the standard genetic code and the wt p53 sequence to build a table suitable for publication with the official mutation nomenclature.
Download the spreadsheet.

MUTANT PROPERTIES (click the button on the left panel)

Check the properties of mutant TP53 at every position of the p53 protein. For every TP53 mutant, it includes structural, phylogenetical and biological data compiled from the literature. It also provides some prediction about whether an amino acid substitution in the protein could have a phenotypic effect.
