The UMD software is freely available for download.

C. Béroud tries to make the UMD software available to those who need it. His policy is that the software should be provided free of charge for non-commercial, research and educational use. Those who are interested in using this software commercially or for profit should contact us.
The free UMD software runs either on PC (windows 98, 2000, NT) or Mac (OS 9, OS X) computers.
To set up a UMD web server, we can host your database on our own website or you can do it on your own website. In this case, specific products must be purchased (4D web license), for additional information please contact us.

To set up a LSDB using the UMD software, You should agree to all of the terms and conditions set forth below :

  1. You understand and acknowledge that the UMD software is protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws. Customer's Software License confers no title or ownership and is not a sale of any rights in the Software.

  2. If a UMD-LSDB already exist for your gene of interest, you should contact the curator of this database to set up a collaboration and avoid multiple versions of the same database.

  3. You should give a free access to your database to the scientific community.

  4. In any publication using a UMD-LSDB, you should cite Beroud C et al. UMD (Universal mutation database): a generic software to build and analyze locus-specific databases. Hum Mutat 2000; 15: 86-94. and/or Beroud C et al. UMD (Universal mutation database): 2005 update. Hum Mutat 2005; 26(3): 184-191

  5. In any publication using data from the UMD-Predictor algorithm, you should cite Salgado D. et al. UMD-Predictor: A High-Throughput Sequencing Compliant System for Pathogenicity Prediction of any Human cDNA Substitution . Hum Mutat 2016; 37(5): 439-446

  6. If you develop a website using the UMD software or data from a UMD-LSDB, you will mention it to the HGVS and UMD to establish links to your website.

  7. You should report any bug our trouble to us.

  8. Limitation of liability. UMD will not be liable to you or anyone else for any consequential, incidential or special damages that result from the use, or inability to use, the UMD software even if advise beforehand of the possibility of such damages. You agree that UMD shall have no liability to you for all damages, losses and causes of action of any nature whatsoever arising out of or in connection with the use of the UMD software.

  9. Customer must reproduce all copyright notices and other proprietary legends in or on the original Software on all permitted copies or adaptations. You may not remove from the Software, or alter, any of the trademarks, trade names, logos, patent or copyright notices or markings, or add any other notices or markings to the Software. Customer may not copy the Software onto any public or distributed network.

  10. Customer will not modify, disassemble, decompile or otherwise attempt to access or determine the source code of the Software without C. Béroud's prior written consent. Where Customer has other rights under statute, Customer will provide C. Béroud with reasonably detailed information regarding any intended disassembly or decompilation. Customer will not decrypt the Software unless necessary for legitimate use of the Software.

  11. C. Béroud may terminate Customer's or any transferee's or sublicensee's Software License upon notice for failure to comply with any applicable Software License terms. Immediately upon termination, the Software and all copies of the Software will be destroyed.

  12. The UMD Software Copyright (c) 1992-2018 - Mr. Christophe Béroud. All rights reserved. You shall not duplicate or transfer the UMD Software, in whole or in part, in whatever media or manner (electronic format, handwriting process or other), including but not limited to, through copies, downloads, research systems or information storage, for any purpose, without Mr. Christophe Béroud's prior written approval. The rights to adapt, translate, arrange, correct and, more generally, modify the UMD Software are exclusively reserved, at any time and in any place, to Mr. Christophe Béroud.
